@HSWFilms ...another thing to consider is that while the major chains are largely converting to digital projection, the vast majority of the mom & pop type theaters (the places likely to be more open to showing a film not distributed by a major studio) are still projecting 35mm film (and looking none the worse for it) transferring HD to film, or renting a digital projector bright enough for a theater screen at every venue may cost you just as much as shooting film. :shrugs" it's a thought.

@raymondleeleggs Because digitally shot movies are a dime a dozen! If you want to be taken seriously, and you don't have any recognizable names in front of the camera, or behind it, you need a recognizable name IN the camera... Kodak or Fuji. I was actually just recently able to put together a camera package for just over $8k (2 wk sched, 1 sync sound, 1 MOS (stunts, covering multiple angles to cut down on # of takes), anamorphic lenses (shared between the 2 cams) std, baby legs, hihat...

@leajo47 I think Dov means you should tell them you're on a very small budget and basically ask them to give you the camera package/kit for a week for the price of two days and someone will agree to that if you are a good negotiator.
-
if you're paying for a 2 day week instead of four then you have less shooting time..?
-
why is he screeming at us ??? its kinda weird :*(

great info

2 day week = get a camera for a week, but only pay for 2 days.

Pretty good videos by Dov Simens. But can anyone explain what he means by renting "2day/week" instead of "4day/week"?
Does that mean use the camera only 2days per week, and not 4 days? If that is, that's not much of a saving. It's just not spending money by not shooting. I'm confused...
why not shoot digital HD and save money for the actual production and Post production (Miniatures and CGI?, and dolby DTS surround?)

@raymondleeleggs - Yes I recommend if your cash Budget is under $200,000 then shoot in a digital format. The REDcam is the best of the 4k cameras out there but DO NOT pay more than $1,800 a week for a rental of a REDcam
