Originally recorded by The Kingston Trio in 1961. It was this recording
that influenced Frank Sinatra to want want to record his version which became
the most popular version.
When I was seventeen
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for small town girls
And soft summer nights
Wed hide from the lights
On the village green
When I was seventeen
When I was twenty-one
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for city girls
Who lived up the stair
With all that perfumed hair
And it came undone
When I was twenty-one
When I was thirty-five
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls
Of independent means
Wed ride in limousines
Their chauffeurs would drive
When I was thirty-five
But now the days grow short
Im in the autumn of the year
And now I think of my life as vintage wine
from fine old kegs
from the brim to the dregs
And it poured sweet and clear
It was a very good year
Frank OWNS this. All other versions deleted.

ok, I'm confused. This sounded like Frank to me, am I missing something? If this isn't then it is VERY well done.

Homer Simpson sang It Was A Very Good Beer on The Simpsons. It is a parody of It Was A Very Good Year Performed by: Frank Sinatra.

Hi Eddie - Nice Job ! ! ! But always remember to pay close attention to what made Sinatra - Sinatra - and that would be his phrasing. So my advice would be to phrase a bit more like Frank and your rendition will be that much better for it - unless of course you were intentionally trying not to sound like Frank and to sound like you - then - ignore what I just said - anyway - well done ! ! !
