I found that the National Hospitals in Costa Rica charge us gringos the same (or more) as you can get in the US if you shop around.

Kimberly I feel sorry for what has happened to you, it is embarrasing for CR. And you know what, he tried to rip off my friend from Georgia too, and he ripped off a guy from Montana right in front of her...he gave them in email price and assured work has been paid and to come back in 2 or 3 months to finish it, and once they were here he said such and such has changed and he was asking $6k and $3600 to each of them..
Don't risk this America !!!

That tends to happen when you put your medical tour in the hands of amateurs who don't really care about what really happens to the patient, is all about squeezing the money out of needy people. I just saw this swiss company that seems really nice, is called medicine brokers or something. my cousin in france says it was awesome, because they had an assistant in every language.

@Alex13andros The swiss company you spoke to may seem nice and your cousin might have got lucky. The point is, when you receive botched treatment abroad ( and many people do ) you are screwed period !

Costa Ricans charge gringos more than they charge their own for " EVERYTHING " including healthcare. Dental and other medical procedures are less expensive than in the United States. But, the risk is huge and soooooo many Americans are severly botched and or are killed in the hands of theses third world country so called medical professionals. It is simply not worth the risk to yourself or your loved ones period !!!

This wouldn't have happened at all if my dentistry was done in the United States. Unfortunately, Americans assume that dentists abroad have American ethic's and values.
I've seen this dentist on all kinds of medical tourism web-sites and I'm sure some are even United States based sites. Hell, he even made it on a local CBS News station to promote himself. He refuses to speak with the news station that did the story and they won't do a follow up unless he speaks to them again. Don't risk it !!!
