This is a documentary looking at some of Ireland's DIY bands and culture over the last 5-20 years or so. It is a Dublin Community Television production and was made by the Community Of Independents collective that works with the channel. Featuring live footage and audio of various Irish artists as well as insightful interviews with some of the people that have been involved in the growth of this scene. Excellent docu, well done! Delighted something like this finally got made. It's been really encouraging to see a more self-sufficient, collaborative ethos amongst local bands in recent years and this articulates the various challenges and triumphs of that shift in perspective really well.

Wel made doc. Nice. Such an interesting subject. It's like this sub-culture is directly taking it's queue from the punk era in the whole anti-establishment thing (in the former's case it seems to be an f you to major record labels). And it sort of re-establishes some sort of local community and people certainly derive a sense of identity from it. The music, for the most part though, is regressive and formulaic but I'm sure live performances are heart-felt and people take something away from that
