#17 Darrell Waltrip had been the strongest car all day and he and #28 Davey Allison were battling for the lead when he cut a tire down and droped from contention.

Even though the race had been green for well over 100 laps four cars get nose to tail to battle for the win.

#28 Davey Allison, #6 Mark Martin, #94 Sterling Marlin, and #5 Ricky Rudd.

On the final lap Rudd spins Marlin out while Allison and Martin come down for an amazing photo finish, one of the closest finishes in Nascar History (at the time i believe it was the closest)

  • watching that, it makes you wonder why they would ever A. change the car, B. build these 1.5 mile cookie cutter tracks.

  • When was the last time there were 4 cars in contention at the end of a race lately? They ruined NASCAR

  • @newjersey421 no...he just went to his trailer and talked...no bat was used

  • Now that's real RACIN'!!!!

  • This was back when Bristol had the old asphalt configuration.

    Asphalt>Concrete.

And this was also when Davey Allison was back in his prime. Davey had a great career ahead of him. He should've accumulated over 50 wins, and a couple of championships in my opinion. Dale Earnhardt wouldn't be a 7 time champion if Davey had never been killed.

    R.I.P. Davey, and Dale.

  • I like watching these older videos to see some of these guys closer to their prime (Marlin, Irvan, Rudd, etc etc)

  • Wished Nascar was like the Good Ole Days, Noticed that they raced Buicks, Oldsmobiles, etc. Instead of just 4 of the standard production cars, They had a variety of cars. Plus these cars were more exciting to watch to me.

  • wow what a race, and a cool finish!!!

  • Not me!

  • who does like him?

  • you like kyle busch. get a LIFE!!!!
