When I see this tour do force of a performance, it amazes me and at the same time makes me sad. With the new code of point (CoP) system in ice dance, you could never have a free dance today with the same kind of passion and artistic intensity as the Duchesnay's. I think that the new system has removed the intellectual side of figure skating, which was so perfectly captured in this performance. Also, I really appreciate Toller Cranston's knowledge of skating and strong level of language.

I still can't believe there was even a debate over who originally choreographed most of this piece... it has Christopher Dean all over it even when the music changes. Torvill & Dean performed The Missing first and Dean should have gotten credit for it. Duchesney's were good but they wouldn't have been a speck in the history books if it hadn't been for Torvill & Dean.

pour moi les meilleurs patineurs!!!!!

@shawnf20 Duchesnay were actually beautiful, but there's no comparison between their version and the Torvill& Dean's: their dramatic intensity, the effortless and hypnotic quality of the moves, their charisma are still unmatched.

@Lolla373 The same!

Torvill and dean skated this in 1988. and sorry but it was T and D that changed the world of ice skating forever and not his wife and her brother. They are very good but will never be as good as T and D.

I agree with quafer's post: Christopher Dean provided striking & innovative choreography for them for several years which helped make them famous. Torvill and Dean were innovative AND the best technical skaters around by a mile. Sadly, the Duchesnays weren't and though they skated with great passion and
conviction, they won the World's only when the Russians were under a cloud thru a drugs scandal. But their performances were very exciting. Dean was accused of stealing some of the moves here.

I was there to see it with my own eyes!! It will be a moment that I will never forget. I was 11 years old. It was amazing, and so powerful to be there during this performance!! As a skater myself at the time, it was just to motivating, and captivating!

I can't believe I found this video! Few days ago I was talking about this performance with my mom :). I was a kid when I saw it 20 years ago and it made a huge impact on me. Now I know why. This was one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen. It's funny how I remembered their certain moves and their outfits but couldn't remember names. I just knew they were siblings. Thank you so much for posting it! You made my day!
