We'll arrive early this morning, in Alaska's capital city, Juneau. Although numerous attempts have been made to move the state capital from this land-locked city, Juneau has been the seat of Alaskan government for nearly 100 years; since 1906, when it was transferred from Sitka. Juneau was founded in 1880 by gold prospectors Richard Harris and Joe Juneau, and prospered as a mining town for many years.
We'll disembark the Sea Lion just after breakfast and board coaches for our morning tour of Juneau, followed by a buffet lunch and a transfer to the airport. All of us at Lindblad Expeditions and here aboard the M/V Sea Lion thank you for traveling with us, and wish you safe travels, fair winds and following seas.
