guys some people need to shutup right now. I don't get why anyone would state that barbershop "only works with guys". You all need to realize that all the necessary elements of a good barbershop tune are in here. They just need to polish a little, and yes if they wanted to be a classic act like the chordettes then outside school they could change their outfits a little. But if you really listen to the chordettes original recording, you'll find the background music unnecessary, as in many cases.

i wouldnt really call it a barber shop quartet with 4 ladies. the female voice can do some amazing things but it could always use bass

In my opinion that's a great cover and quartets work with girls and maybe a few people are just deaf!

Barbershop can work fine with girls but it's usually called a quartet, why would women be at the barber's? Women's voices tend to sound better with background music and maybe additional base from a man. Listen to Lollipop by The Chordettes. For an a cappella quartet check out the TheFourQuarters on YouTube('In Time' recommended) or TheFourStrongWinds. I feel the large echo-y hall in this video is a disadvantage aswell as the tempo of parts of the song.
