I documented the build of my homemade equipment rack. It's not perfect, but works just fine. Not the only way to do it so it's not an instructional video as much of a "this is how I did it". It's just me blabbing about the way I put it together. One thing I didn't mention in the video is that I did three coats with a clear spray enamel to protect and waterproof the surfaces. Enjoy!

  • Thanks! Exactly what I'm looking for. Well explained!

  • @jdansti So happy to help. Comments like this make it worth the effort!

  • you sir are a genius

  • @chrisconwaypeters You're too kind!

  • Oh, so the rail has threads? Hm. Well, that would be perfect, if I could buy one, but I can't, where I live. Only with 1/4" holes...

    Thanks anyway...

  • @DrUmSensitive Ah, that's a shame. Yes all rack rails have threaded holes. They're widely available online, just searching "rack rails", and not too expensive. The rack rails that are built in when you buy a rack have threads also. It definitely seems like it would be a pain to have to use nuts for them. But it seems like if you're in a place that you could buy gear to go in a rack you could also find rack rails. Good luck!

  • thanks man helped a bunch great video

  • @DrUmSensitive I'm not completely sure what you're saying the issue is..you put gear into the rack using rack screws, they're a standard screw that fit in the threads in the rail. Hold up the piece of gear, line up the holes in it with the threads in the rail, put a the screws in, tighten them, and it's in.

  • I'm having a real hard time with a similar rack. How do you screw the gear together with the rack?!?! Do you use screws and nuts? Because that is the worst method in the world, if you plan to take gear out and put it back in, sometimes. There is not enough place for the fingers, and it is really a pain in the ass to do it.

If you have a better solution, I would really like to hear it... :/

  • @11219tt You're very welcome! I've got a similar video that I'm working on showing how I built a 4x10 speaker cab for my 70's Fender Bassman. It'll probably be the same kind of format, I hope you enjoy that too!
