This is Blondie,I first posted a video of this bird in Sept 2008 and she has been a daily visitor ever since.Recently however, she vanished for 3 months which saddened me because i thought the feral moggy around here got her.I made this video to celebrate the homecoming of this very special and delightful bird.

  • I'm wondrering why you don't say what species of bird this is.

The video isn't very clear so I'm having a hard time correctly identifying it's type and gender.

I think I can tell what it is what it is.

I just hope it doesn't become a snack for that fox while it is breeding on the ground.

Foxes luv to hunt birds that are ground dwellers.

  • @frozzytoobz Its a female Satin Bower Bird with a rare condition that gives it its "blonde " look. The condition i believe is genetic and its called Leucism.

I first posted Blondie back in Sept 2008.I have seen her here almost every day since.

The way it is here is, when ever there is a fox coming up to the house every animal and bird knows it because of the racket the/my local flock of Cockies make . Then there is the Currawongs in Winter:)

  • @PYTHAGORAS101 Thanks for the info.I was about half right in my Bower ID. I had an occasional female Satin visitor who was grey. That's what stumped me with Blondie and the different feather colour.

I wish you'd get rid of that fox.One day it will break your heart by eating your Aussie natives.

Foxes slaughter 100's of millions of Aussie critters anually

Their carnage is staggering. They're amongst the worst in decimating Aussie animals. Even worse than Feral cats in places

    Research Fox damage

  • @frozzytoobz Yes i understand how you feel about foxes and the issue can divide communities. There is a 10.80 program around here ,but i'm not going to kill them.

  • How wonderful that 'Blondie' has returned.

  • @bellamoonnature Thanks Bella, she is such a joy to have around and i'm so happy to see her again.

  • @PYTHAGORAS101 The issue is MILLIONS of Aussie animals and birds that are slaughtered yearly because they have no defense against this top predator.By feeding this vermin you're helping YOUR endangered species to become extinct.

What do you think this rapidly growing colony of foxes you're helping to breed are living on besides your handouts.I can't understand your logic

Have you researched fox carnage on Aussie wildlife.Don't you care about OUR wildlife

I'm trying to be civil with you on this

  • I feel your joy!!!
