@TheKaffeeBonbon I'm sorry but that's just a failure on Germany's part. No offense.

It's written as Luffy in the series and on pretty much all merchandise. To change the name to Ruffy is just....not smart. If Luffy sounds like a dog's name then it works for this character because of his animal like tendencies that they have mentioned before.

Besides, I'll take having a dog's name over the street name for Rohypnol any day

@Moneylikesme You always call names the way you know them. We in germany know him under the name Ruffy, so we call him Ruffy. Blame the synchronisation studios. Though I think it's good, they changed the name an the pronounciation that way. "Lüffie" would have been really ludicrous. Sounds like some dog. :D

(and to be accurate, the correct romanisation of モンキー･D･ルフィ would be Monkī D. Rufi but since the ru is pronouced like lu he is called Luffy)
