Movie trailer for Toei Doga's fifth animated feature, Arabian Nights: The Adventures of Sinbad. Like the previous film, Anju to Zushio-Maru, this movie is centered around human characters, but the tone of this picture is more adventurous and upbeat. Among the early Toei Doga films, this is not widely regarded as a success, but it has its moments.
Sinbad is the second of three films that Osamu Tezuka collaborated with Toei Doga as a writer. By this time, Tezuka has formed his own rival animation studio, Mushi Productions, with a very different focus on artist-driven films, and a push into "limited" animation on television. This is different from Toei's Disney-esque approach to lavish, "full" animated feature films.
At last! I've been trying to find images or videos for this movie for years. I also watched it as a kid in the early 80s [until, as a kid, I spilled water on the VHS] [:/]. I fondly remember a scene where the little boy [or girl, my memory fails me there] aboard the ship runs across a mechanical dancing statue. So nice to finally see bits of it again. Thank you for uploading this!

@arcane1977 It's not available here in the US on DVD. There is a VHS version that MGM released in the 80's but its hard to find. :(
