Yes it does I just tried it. Just go to Sonic 1 and then when it gets to the title screen press Up, down, left, right then hold down Y then press start. That will take you to the cheat menu then you can do the rest from there.

Hey sinister, if you push Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, right, C, hold A, Start then you start the game in debug mode and can do lots of cool shit. I never seem to have that issue of not getting the "HAPPY ENDING". ;)

Yeah I know man. I didn't feel like putting it in the video. But I wish I would have. This is just an old video I had on my hard drive that I never did anything with. Hey, remember that one time you played this game while streaming? NO HAPPY ENDING FOR YOU! Also, I recorded the debug mode using my capture device. I didn't want 10,000 noobs saying I hacked an emulator or something lol.

Actually I seem to remember the reaching the happy ending during that game.

You didn't man. Unless you are thinking of a different time. But I know you can get the happy ending so no big deal. I am thinking about deleting this video. It seems I can never make a video that some one is completely happy with. I put up a cheat for Sonic and people make it like I don't know all the cheats or need to use them. But if I would have put up the captured game footage then noobs would have thought it was fake. I just can't win. All I wanted to do is help people.

Wow that's cool....I think I figured that out a long time ago or maybe I read something about it in a EGM, but I forgot you could do that by now.
That's a cool trick to bring back up to the forefront. I might have to try that for old times sake as I was playing Sonic 1 on my actual Genesis not too long ago. But I kept dying in the Labyrinth zone Act 2/3 :/
