I like the way he handles the passage at 7:45--much like Francescatti--with some delicacy and WITHOUT losing time--an extremely virtuistic passage and test of the master's muster. He has been called a "muscular" player but here he demonstrates real delicacy and artistry--he was a well rounded player.

I know of no other recording of any music whatsoever that captures anything even remotely close to the sensitivity and beauty overlaying the tragic pathos expressed in this music. Kogan's Tchaikovsky is an incomparable and ultimate performance.

I bought the Leonid Kogan Edition 10 CD set, and I was disappointed to see the Tchaikovsky recording /wasn't/ the Silvestri one. Now I have to go spend more money and get the Silvestri recording. >.>

I'm impressed with this but confused a bit because there are a few CD performed by Kogan with Silvestri. In order to clarify, please let me know which orchestra this is. Alternatively, you can let me know the label of this CD.

this is with Silvestri isnt it? In my humble opinion, this is THE best Tchaikovsky VC ever recorded bar none.

will you post the third movement please? I recall that movement by Kogan as the most gut-shattering visceral listening experience ever.
