CSX Q703-18 lead by CSX SD70AC 4774 with a nicely tuned horn provide a nice example of the Doppler effect as it passes. Followed by CSX CW60AC this pair is an unusual power team for this trash train usually powered by a pair of GEVO's.

  • how many cars are usually attached

  • @SPIRITAIR1

    usually between 40 and 60

  • hey jim what dd you mean by doppler affect

  • Listen to the horn from :30 to :35. You will notice that the pitch of the horn sound changes as the train passes my camera. This is caused by the Doppler effect. If you want more info check out WikiPedia. They have a good explanation there.

  • Great job! Btw how was the smell =]?

  • It was pretty cool that day and the smell was not to bad. One benefit of cooler weather!

  • thankx and good job

  • That was a long train!

  • The number of that AC6000CW unit is 685.

  • EVERYONE it's a K5LLA!!

  • NO. That's a K5LLA.

  • My physics 20 class was impressed by the sheer brilliance of this production. The beautiful K5HL is a classic horn and the doppler effect was magnificient.
