  • ya see the twitching needle?? thats compressor surge. youd better get that fixed before you get to buy a new turbo....

    theyre expensive, by the way

  • The bounce that you see is not turbo surge. The compressor on these OBS chargers are quite large eliminating the possibility of surge unlike the Super Duty chargers.

The bounce is created by the pulse created by the MAP sensor because it's plumbed into that line off the intake.

Even if you experience surge on these stock turbos the drive pressures are not dynamic enough to break the thrust bearing. If you have aftermarket fuel.. then is possible, but not with the psi shown in the vid

  • What's getting into it a little? 25 psi or so isn't very much for a diesel. The 6.4 will burt the stock gauge at 40 psi with out any mods. Can you clarify a little?

  • The 6.4L is not an OBS 7.3L. Two different engines. The IN 6.4L also runs sequentials (BorgWarner's). Sequential setups are completly different than running a single charger. For an OBS 7.3L the max boost bone stock would be 16 lbs (for a 97 non-cali emission). This truck has larger sticks (single shots) and nozzles, however, without programing there is almost no difference from stock except the larger the nozzles will flow the fuel faster into the combustion chamber.

  • Can the 7.3 use a twin setup, even if you can't run sequentials, couldn't you run 1 turbo per engine side. You may not increase total boost this way, but it should increase volumetric efficiency?

  • Yes, you can run twins or sequentials on a 7.3l. However, it depends on what type of performance you are looking for. A big single can flow some serious air but can be a low spooler. It all depends on application. Running a separate turbo per bank would be pointless. Remember, its about the heat that makes the turbo so benefical. Plus, room and piping would certainly be an issue, even in an OBS rig.

  • @texantruch x2. ^^^^ One on each side would be pointless, and youd see 2x the results if you put them one after the other.

  • @texantruch i drove a 95 with aftermarket turbo when i was lookin for a truck, and it hit 25 easy, no tuning. effed up guage?

  • nice!! Im hittin 32psi on my 97 stock turbo... before i get yelled at "thats not good on your stock turbo!!!" i only did it twice its gettin a d66 shortly!! gotta love these OBS FORDS!!

  • after seeing this video I cant stop wondering whos watching the road?

  • Question. My truck is a 97 7.3. Bone stock except for my edge cs that i put in it. Boost wise is only doing 13psi at 3,000 rpm. Is something wrong there or what? 13 psi doesn't sound like its much.

  • I got the same autometer gauges in my obs F350, pushing around 35psi of boost the past 6 months at the drags and no blown up turbo... but my truck is in pieces right now cause im putting a new H2E turbo on it... I got 175cc/30% swamps injectors in it too and TS chip

  • terrible

  • my 97 hits 40psi with stock turbo and stock injectors w/ tw chip

  • my 95 obs pegs 30lbs easy with 160cc's and a wildman tuning. havent a clue why my my heads havent lifted yet

  • i got a 95 f350 with a banks chip but uhh u no where i can get a performance turbo ive look just bout everywhere
