  • You are absolutely correct. I do allow my TWH to trot and he is very good at it. We are winning in flat classes as well. We have started the 2009 Show Season doing very well. We have another show coming up next weekend. And, plans for Pete to be entered into a mini-grand prix later this year. We'll see. We take it all in stride, one day at a time. . .and just try to evaulate the level at which he is performing. Sometimes you just have to LOOK OUTSIDE of the box, and find the amazing!

  • We placed Reserve at this event. And, my bay mare also claimed a reserve spot in the 2'6" Hunter division. We have to practice lots of haunches in with these horses to get that back-end strength built up and get them off their forehand. But they are turning into nicely balanced horses that have tons of TRY!

  • I hope you all enjoy this video. We are working very hard to understand the movements of the gaited horse and train them to the highest level of quality possible for Over Fences competition. I have three in training that are doing quite nicely and it's something to think about. They are also extremely handy in the hunt field as they are very brave and make nice steady mounts.

  • yes! finallly someone else who trots their twh! lol. I always have people get on me about that. Way to go, your horse looks great!

  • You are an inspiration.

  • I love their look and strong bone and willing hearts, wish they could trot more, or more people with TWH that do trot would be open about it, as they would be great for more sports.

  • I know what you are saying. I jump a TWH and the turning point for us was getting his backend engaged. I took him to a gaited horse trainer, even though I wanted to jump him, because he understood my horse best. I have shown him Green Horse and Children's Hunters we did okay in both. I would love to see more of your horses on the flat. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

  • Congratulations - That's awesome! How did you do? Did you place well?
