It's not my finest work.. but at least I've finished SOMETHING. I seriously have like 14 projects I've started and can't seem to finish a thing! Emma is abroad and internet-less for like 3 weeks, so I had no one to give me advice on this one (ergo you should blame her for this atrocity) Oh and all of you guys are amazing btw. In case you didn't know (:

I couldn't believe someone hadn't already done this song to them! (maybe that's a bad sign...)
The writers really used a lot of symbolism with the swans throughout the series, especially with Anne. In fact, the costume designer based the costumes of the masque in 1x03 on swan lake.
The Tudorswiki has an entire page dedicated to the symbolism on the show, a little bit from it:

In peerage, the swan holding a Tudor rose (the swan and the rose are both symbols of Aphrodite) represents constancy in love, the theme of Shakespeare's poem, 'The Phoenix and the Turtle', The poem refers to the death-divining swan. An allusion to the belief still current, that dying swans break out into beautiful song turning the act of dying into a divine event.

1. The swan is symbolic of the hypocrite because its plumage is pure white but underneath is black skin. It also has beautiful wings but can hardly fly.
2. The swan symbolizes the end of one's life.
3. A swan's song symbolizes a last effort.
Swans are known for their long delicate necks and so was Anne Boleyn.
Swans also signify Monogamy since once they find a mate, they stay with them for life and are known to pine away after their mate dies. Henry has only one killed. Is he turning his back on the old ways of monogamous marriage by eating the swan?"

  • Great job!! i'ts a fantastic video. Since I saw The Tudors, and especially the episode with the execution of pro Ana asked myself the symbolism of swans in the series, and Always thought that Henry eats the swan as symbol of the end of his marriage with Ana and the beginning of a new life, since before he looks the pair of swans (in my opinion, the swans represent Ana and Enrique) and then it finishes eating one. Very interesting your video!!!
