Canadian blogger Hossein Derakhshan has been rotting in an Iranian prison for over a year, and hasn't been charged with anything. Our government doesn't seem to care much about him - but you should!
hoder turned away from israel as one knows who has foliowed his blog and even changed his attitude to a pro islamic republic. maybe that was the reason for him to think it's harmless to travel to iran
i wish he receives the power from somewhere to endure this.
I can't see why this has to be a priority for Harper. This blogger ran his mouth while hiding behind a computer screen in Canada, and people think it should be made first priority? What a great way to make Canada look like a safe place to hide in and make others talk shit about Harper just because he didn't make first on his agenda.
Yes, it was a dumbass move for Hoder to go back to Iran, but if Canada won't protect it's citizens, what's the point in being a Canadian? They say that Canada provides refuge and whatnot, but if it won't try to retrive a unaccused citizen from a foriegn jail, what will it do?
@incarnedine It has been proved, time and time again, that the Mexicans will not co-operate with the more North part of North America. Recently, as Jessie points out in his podcast, Dual American - Iranian citizen Roxanne Saberi was thrown into prison with a similar circumstance. However, she was released when Obama made a big argument on her behalf. All Stephen Harper can do is pressure the Iranians, and if that dosen't work, pressure Obama to pressure the Iranians.

forget this guy, there's plenty Canadians who rotted to death in Mexican prisons for phony drug charges.
Canada just doesn't have the hutspah to stand up for their citizens.
