i think the mistake was that Jonathan Hensleigh wanted to direct this film in the style of a Western..hence that song. If you took both this, and War Zone and combined it, and just gave a small reference to SHIELD, reinforcing the mercenary aspect, this wouldve worked. A kind of misfire, because it couldve been similar "mercenary vigilantism" in the vein of The Dark Knight.

But also MOST HERO IN MOVIES dont stay close to their origins from the comics. 2) I know Warzone is a reboot. Not a sequel. And in 2004, he did go after his familys murderers then goes to being the Punisher. Where in the comics, I read he went after his familys killers first then went after criminals. So ya

@ManOfJustice21 Well in the comics, I believe his family died in a picnic not in a family reunion. The Punisher's motive was not just revenge it was justice around the world. In this film he goes after the guys that kill his family. In War Zone he goes after criminals in general. Now you'll probably might say, "Well, he already kill Saints in the first film." But War Zone was not a sequel. It was a reboot. But the Punisher in general is not just about revenge is giving justice his way.

people dont understand i guess this shows how he BECAME the punisher. And i remember reading and it should be obvious, Frank went after the people who killed his family before jigsaw or any other villain. So this is true to comics in my opinion

I loved the movie, it gets critized because it is not the comic, but thats why the director and the people that made it do not make it like the comics

simple because its not a comic, its a movie, and as a movie person you have to find a way how to make these characters real, how would you bring the punisher or spiderman in real life they don't rehash old ideas from the comics because they want to make it a new story, with the comic characters in it
