I remember Williamsburg being such a quaint and beautiful burg. Now, many beautiful old buildings have been torn down and ugly eyesores have been erected by greed in their places. Because of "artists" real estate has been grossly over inflated and difficult to afford.

Everyone disses this dude but him and his kind brought the neighborhood back to life. Honestly tell me youd prefer the nasty crime filled neighborhood this was in the early 80s.

Its not so much gentrification, the problem is homogenization. Diversity, uniqueness and flavor make neighborhoods great. Great neighborhoods are destroyed when everything and everyone is the same.

I like the old ghetto Brooklyn over the hipster infested new Brooklyn. Rent because of these idiots increased rapidly and now native New Yorkers are moving out. Thanks assholes!!!!!! Immigrants made this city and now due to these rich kids immigrants can't afford to live in BK they move to Queens or Staten-Island instead. Manhattan sucks we don't want BK to be filled with tourists.

I hate Right-Wing assholes. I also hate pretentious, talentless unemployed losers who call themselves artists and live off of their parents while gentrifying working class neighborhoods (read: hipsters). The real artists of this world are hard-working, often very poor and devoted to creativity and self-expression, not looking cool or hip. Not fond of yuppies either, who are selfish pricks. I think of myself as pretty liberal and do not want to be lumped in with douchebags for it. :-)

@narch87 All gentrification does is kick out poor people who may have kids to another area because the property values become too expensive. The violence stays intact - but just in a different area. You must be a dumb liberal.
