Only 8000 visitors a year but a brilliant effort by the staff of the museum at Grytviken, and the govenment of south georgia. An excellent diplay of artifact from the days of whaling there. Sadly the biggest animal ever recorded, an enormous blue whale, was brought ashore and processed here. An hoourable trade at the time, for the mostly Norwegian men who lived a very hard life working there so far from home. How attitudes and odeas have changed now (mostly). 25th jan 2008, with some shipmates from the lyubov orlova. expedition cruising with quark expeditions.
