One of the best recordings of the doo wop period was "Happy, Happy Birthday Baby" which was written by Margo Sylvia & Gilbert Lopez, members of The Tune Weavers, who recorded it in March 1957. Originally released by Casa Grande Records, it was unsuccessful until Chess Records bought the distribution rights and released it on its Checker subdidiary label. The single reached number four on the R&B chart and number five on the Billboard Hot 100. The lead vocal was performed by Margo Sylvia with back up by Margo's husband John Sylvia, her brother Gilbert J. Lopez, and cousin Charlotte Davis.

  • Kendilisle, thanks for the info....as the Righteous Brothers once said via Alan O'Day.."If there's a rock and roll HEAVEN, you know they've got a HELL of a band."

  • @Cch092775 Margo Sylvia was the lead singer and co-wrote this with her brother Gilbert Lopez. The group were from Woburn, Mass. I am from Massachusetts and dated a woman from Woburn, Mass. Sylvia is now deceased. Go to Wikipeda and type in Tune Weavers and get the facts on them. Loved her voice since I was a teenager in the fifties. Never knew they were from Woburn, Mass. until at least fifty years later. Other members of the group were her husband and cousin.

  • @PhillyC187 arent you kind of old to be playing games like this. unless your alot younger than your hubby but if he is 60 you gots to be like 40.
