Groningen Railway Station Cycle Parking

At the time this cycle park was built, it had 4150 cycle spaces, bringing the total for the railway station to a bit over 6000. It was later found to be inadequate, and total capacity at the railway station was expanded to around 10000 bikes. See the blog for more details.

This bike park cost €10M to build. Groningen is the world's top cycling city. Around 60% of all journeys in Groningen are by bicycle.

Mr Hembrow - you make me want to post all my videos I take in Netherlands because they are all on bicycle. I miss Gronigen so much because of the intelligent approach to transportation with the bicycle....and the human resourse. It's the people of Groningen that make it special because they using bicycle.  Often I think of immigrating to The Netherlands, claiming refuge from automobile poisoning here in America. This bike park now has digital boards which tells cyclist how many places there are free in certain sections the bike parking. Quite usefull, although I still wonder how precise it actually is. I park my by bike in this park once in the two weeks, for at least 2 days. It's an awesome thing.
