Integrity (Honesty) is the second of the three PIE core values (Patriotism, Integrity, Excellence). It is a deliberate adherence to live out the truth and to always seek this truth in ones beliefs, thoughts, words and actions. It upholds what is right especially with moral courage, even when it may run against popular sentiments, or even result in ridicule, or may mean being humbled to accept ones errors and weaknesses. This extends to treating every man with the same sincerity and moral correctness one wants to be treated by with equity, courtesy and consideration.
Life with integrity is like a correctly charted ship traveling on a long perilous journey. Honesty holds life steady just as a ships rudder keeps it firmly tracked on an unerring heading. Living with integrity will surely be tested, as natural trials are normal to sea voyages. By temptations to take advantage of the weakness of others, to abusively exploit trust and position, to cheat when we think no one is looking and to realize wrongful gain even when it is clearly wrong; but life with this value remains as true as the ship held steadfastly on course despite waves, winds, and weather.
A life of integrity is reward in itself. It bestows nobility that no wealth and worldly praise can ever buy. But there is more. There is the goodness it consequently causes in other men and generates with whomever it touches in ripples from these men passing it on. Making this world a better place with each man it touches.
