I apologise for my remarks - I am guilty of similar practices, and I am sorry for any offence. My comment was unnecessary

@Boom2thaBap i made a mistake when i typed de gamba im perfectly aware it's da gamba. no need to tell me i dont know what im talking about, because in my language, thats the way you spell it, da gamba, and i study music at the conservatory.
-
It is called 'viola da gamba', not 'de gamba'. She was correct (and would be, considering she plays one).
You should not try to correct people when you don't know what you're talking about.
-
@fynnjamin Seriously? Maybe you should focus on the musik instead.
-
@ponto Are you correcting the great fynnjamin?
-
Violist, violist da gamba, gamba violist...
I'll stick with viola da gamba player
-
dont say viola da gambist. roughly translated, viola da gamba would be gamba's violin/guitar. it wouldnt make much sense said that would it?xD
use viola de gamba player
-
A viola da gambist(?) came to my school and said that the French performers came up with a type of vibrato that was almost a trill and that was used as an ornament for long sustained notes.
-
She is playing on a bass viol
-
Molto brava. Complimenti.
-
this is not sonata its prelude "prelude wko 207"
-
Sort of... though it's a different type of vibrato.
-
tenor
-
I've seen it done, but it's typical not to use vibrato in baroqu music except for really special notes. Also, it's a little bit harder to use vibrato on gamba since it has frets.
-
this music is notated by the composer in treble cleff (bass gambists play it down an octave. There is a facsimile version and several modern editions.
-
Do you know if there's any gamba tablature anywhere? I'd love to give this a shot on guitar (since I won't be able to afford a viol for about another twenty years.
Beautifully played; thanks for posting.
-
what size viol is she playing ?
-
can you use vibrato for viola da gamba
-
Thanks for this wonderful piece. You are very humble and the sound is wonderful. Please add more pieces. The gamba is completely unappreciated. What kind of instrument are you playing?
-
This is a lovely performance. I hope that we'll see more. Insectqueen is probably a pretty good gambist. I happen to be a cellist, and have tried the gamba.
-
InsectQueen, is you that play the sonata ?
I really love the piece
Bravo !
-
and don't think I am only partial to early music... I happen to ALSO, ADORE 'cello. (gawd... only 500 characters for comments... that stinks :P )
-
forgive me... I play the instrument and your comments still seemed uninformed. the gamba is harder to play than a 'cello. While it's intense? it loses the sonorous-ness of the gamba... the 'cello is a descendent of the gamba... meant for greater ease of movement... there is NO comparison of these instruments in greatness; only in taste. it's like comparing recorder and flute.... there's no point.
-
obviously? your research and your paper? did not give you enough respect for the gamba based on your comments? or perhaps, you need to word them differently?
great playing, but she really needs to learn how to introduce things clearly and precisely. her attitude before she plays jars with the music

Fynnjamin, it was a very informal recital for a group of friends.
