Well put! I would argue that masturbation - like sex, making love, fucking, etc - (at least in my view) does not imply climax. In fact, sometimes masturbation ends up going on forever without climax, although that happens less than when you're with other people, for various reasons. I mean all that in terms of intellectual/mental activities, of course. ;)

I think the reason why "masturbation" is used as a negative is because, in the context in which you used it as a metaphor, you meant it as "self-pleasuring". Which isn't a bad thing, as you said, but "self-pleasuring" easily gets stretched out to "*selfish* pleasuring", which *is* bad.

You enjoy your "mental masturbation" on these vids (I assume), but we enjoy watching them, so your self-pleasuring isn't selfish. The guy you described - he *is* being selfish in his self-pleasuring.
