President Mwai Kibaki led family and friends of the founding father mzee Jomo Kenyatta in marking 32 years since his death. They later proceeded for a commemorative church service.
@suensmith do u know that even in this day and age, it is illegal to take pictures of State House, Nairobi. There are notices warning people of prosecution if found taking snaps of state house. This is another area that should not be labelled as private property, it should also be open up for the public to enjoy it. and do away with those colonial laws
That body being there in parliament building grounds, guarded 24/7, 365 days a year by the millitary, costing the Kenya tax payers millions of shillings to preserve it means then it is public property. It is either they open the area up for the public or they take it out and bury it completely in Gatundu and save Kenya money. haki yetu.
@danielnyang There is bad blood btn the president and the catholic. Remember the catholic church had promised to excommunicate any of its members that voted yes in the referendum. Kibaki is catholic, the Kenyatta family is catholic, so it was really obvious that with them having fallen out with the church, the only place left was the PCEA who ironically came out in support of the draft.
Our Kenyan standards... everything is done in haste, probably last minute. Why is the president's wreath falling apart in a country that grows and exports so many flowers? Read somewhere that Kenyatta's body was embalmed for 50 yrs in which case we have 18 left to make the suggested money. Perhaps we need to enlist a mummy-expert Egyptian if we are keen on making this enterprise profitable.
It's been over 30 years. Any chance we could redeploy those soldiers stationed there permanently to something more useful and stop wasting time and money on flowers every August?
@kevinoti They would earn more than this if they opened it to the public - even in China, Mao's tomb is a tourist attraction.... I hope Kenyans shall DEMAND that their tax money be utilized in a better way... open the thing to the public and then generate money to run it and to improve Kenya

Time to exhume this land grabber and bury him in his village its a waste of prime public land and millitary personell guarding a grave that no one has any serious interest in .
