Fox howling late at night in residential area of London - OMG!!!

11.32pm...

This fox had been howling for at least 2hrs prior to me going outside to film this clip. It sounded horrendous, and I thought it was a dog either being murdered, tortured or dying. I personally would have ventured outside for further inspection, but it wasn't my property, and my sister forbade me to go out into the night. (I love animals, and I hate hearing and seeing them in distress).
I have seen and heard several London urban foxes at night, but never like this!
After viewing other Youtuber's videos, I have been reassured that it was most likely a vixen calling for its mate or children.

Oh I feel so bad now :( In the back of my mind I was wondering if it was a dog. I would have gone over to check but my sis was adamant that I stay in the house. I REALLY should have ventured closer. If there was a problem, I'd have contacted RSPCA.

That sounds EXACTLY like what is outside my house every night. Glad it isn't a dog being murdered like I actually thought as well. YAY fox calls XDD

That sounds much more like a dog in pain to me. I've heard many foxes in my time, and they've never sounded like that. Their call from what I'd heard is a sharp, burst of a scream. This video makes me sad. :(
