dude, the two cerebral hemispheres reference was old a long time ago. besides, why am i the one who is financially free? why are you stuck in debt, crying to everyone online about how you want out? whos fault is that? yours. its a shame you did, and do not, have the intelligence to be financially savvy.
so they almost lost twice early in the season.. so??? 95% of ncaa tournament championship teams lose at least 3-5 in the regular season. and the free throw disparity is their game. thats how coach k's teams win.
So all it takes to be a great player, according to you, is to hold a couple of scoring records and have "hustle" and "focus" on defense (without actually posting numbers a truly great defensive player in college or the NBA would have) and getting bounced in 3 sweet sixteens and one FF.
You are forgetting that WINNING is a big component in whether a player is great. Let's pretend Laettner had tourney finishes just like JJ. There is no way we would call him an all-time great if that happened.
Hansbrough and Stockton both have/had great talent. I never said hard workers couldn't be talented, but just because someone is a hard worker does not make them talented. They aren't mutually exclusive. Both I and William can go on all day, but arguing with someone with less than two cerebral hemispheres is going to bore us eventually, you know.
When you only use those words to describe him, then, yes, they are euphemisms. Truly great players have both great stats and intangibles. You can be a hard worker but not truly great. When you only use adjectives like hustle and focus to describe someone's defensive play, and they don't have great stats, it tells me that they aren't THAT great, otherwise we'd see great stats along with the hustle and focus.
In case you didn't know, DR is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host. You should check him out. For you to belittle me for liking him is like belittling be for liking fillet Mignon, and why is it so hard for you to accept that there is more than one person who disagrees with your assessment of JJ's career? Are you that much of a homer? And yes, you are a homer.
Sure he scored a lot from the free throw line. So did JJ. Hansbrough got fouled almost every time he tried to shoot.
And who made this list? Dick Vitale? Just because you found some list on the internet that thinks he is great doesn't change the fact that his statistics don't measure up.
You giving him a label doesn't excuse the fact that he missed almost 60% of his shots. Maybe if he had a more versatile game he wouldn't have a low field goal percentage.
