The original German text and English Translation of "Lobe den Herren", a beautiful hymn by J.S. Bach.

Lobe den Herren, was in mir ist, lobe den Namen!
Alles, was Odem hat, lobe mit Abrahams Samen!
Er ist dein Licht,
Seele, vergiss es ja nicht;
Lobende, schließe mit Amen!

Praise the Almighty, all that's in me, give his name honor.
All things that breath possess, praise him with Abraham's children!
He is thy light,
Spirit, yea, this forget not;
Praising him, close thou with amen!

  • Gibt es hiervon irgendwelche Noten ??? Danke

  • @hahnbd What gives you the right to "correct" other people? Did you speak to Bach and get your info from him directly? Don't think so! My interpretation has as much right as yours. Even more so, because mine is original, not rehashed platitudes like yours.

  • @privetgreetings Admittedly, I cannot criticizing your secular appreciation Bach, but when you make a "universal" claim that is not true to Bach's theology and intention behind his music, then people like you will distort his message, and there is nothing you can do to stop us from correcting you.

  • @hahnbd So you want to keep Bach exclusive for a closed circle of selected listeners? Too bad, us atheists are enjoying him as much as anybody else and there's nothing you and your prejudiced views can do about it.

  • @privetgreetings Untrue...by your reasoning, you divorce the existing writings of Bach and his contemporaries from his written music and replace it with a mere 'sentimental'/'universal' view that is palatable to a wider audience yet intellectually dishonest.

  • @hahnbd Don't put words in my mouth. Read my postings again. I never tried to force my point of view onto you. Atheists aren't dogmatists like superstitious people. And when did you have a conversation with Bach to hear what his "point of view" was? How could you POSSIBLY know what he was thinking. It's just YOUR interpretation. You are really taking it a bit far by claiming to know what was going on in his head.
