My three goldies: Mango, Licorice (who is turning white) and Princess Tofu (don't ask), with six male mountain minnows and a big school of leopards who have just had another six or so fry! The fry are in a seperate tank so the goldies don't feast on em. Tank has been established for approximately two years. Never had any diseases, and the only death has been the one female minnow. Like to think it's pretty healthy!
I appreciate your concern and I'm certainly not one to be lax about the space my fish have! Got no plans to add any more fish and I believe that 40g+ is plenty for these three for now. They have waterchanges weekly and are very content little fellahs! Thanks for addressing this.

isnt that tank a bit small for all those goldfish
goldfish need at least 10 gallons - 20 to 30 per fish is best
even though they look healthy not being in a big enough tank (20-30 gallons per fish) will stunt their growth which means that their internal organs keep growing and their bodies stop . this usually ends in premature death of goldfish --- they live for 15 - 40 years if they are not lasting that long then they are not being looked after properly .
