Whoops!! Right movie but wrong song. I should have said the love scene where he sang The Desert Song to Carlotta King. I just watched the scene again and loved him in this scene. He really looked like he loved her and did not stand like a wooden indian like in most of the more modern movies. No wonder I still adore him after all these years and stil miss him.

I think that should have been crotch ogles. I noticed she kept looking down while they sang, but I have to admit that I noticed his great hips in the window shot. I loved these scenes, but my favorite of John was in The Desert Song when he sang One Alone. I loved the way he kept swallowing and his hands when he wanted to touch the herone. What a hunk!!!! That was a love scene.

I wast caught by this scene when I watched it for the first time on tv. The whole thing is wildly nonsense but it makes a lot of fun altogether. I love the line "Good night, lady virtue!"

Hollywood was far more bold in 1931 than they were in 1939. This is a John Boles that I had never seen before.
I love how Evelyn Laye's character looks John Boles' character up and down, like she really is an experienced tramp like Fritzi. I'm not surprised he takes her for a naughty girl after the crotch ogle.
