NYPD Keeps a Vigilant Watch Over Illegally Parked Cars

November 16, 2006: having become disgusted with all the illegal parking by NYPD employees and other civil servants, I bring my camera out to the southern portion of the bridle path to document the abuse. This isn't the only time an NYPD employee has questioned me for trying to so so. I told the woman who questioned me that I was concerned about illegal parking on the bridal path, and asked her to alert the Central Park Precinct (located across the transverse road), but I have seen nothing in the months that followed to suggest she did. NYPD knows knows that if their abuses are publicized, there's an outside chance someone will do something about it. Let's see what happens.

I don't hide when I take photos and film. If people ask me what I'm doing, and I tell them. Criminals can collect this plate info as easily as me. However the problem here has been cleared up in part because of my work, and just about the only cars left are the ones with valid placards. I'm not ashamed of my role in helping stop people from illegally parking/abandoning their cars in the middle of Central Park.

I have personally observed changes in placard abuse by NYPD in response to complaints I've posted to uncivilservants[dot]org. You know as well as I do that cops aren't going to deal with me differently because of what I post here, nor should they.

The car in this video has an expired permit from 2005. The car is parked 24/7 in this spot. I don't even know if this guy is still a cop or ever was. My point is this guy has no right to park here. Able to wrap your brain around that?

Sure, no matter what cops do, we should all be happy. We should never criticize cops, for anything. All that matters is cops should be allowed to do what they want, then we'll all be safer.

Shocking. I'm standing there waiting for them while I'm getting threatened by a guy with his tractor trailer on the sidewalk, forcing women and children into the street and they never came.

The cops dont interact with you because most of them dont know who you are since you hide most of the time when you film this garbage. You like filming police plates? I think they will, if you are putting the plates online whats to stop you from putting them on your website and taking shots at them there. These guys just want to do a hard job and they always have to second guess themselves. Also, you should be happy you live here. Ive seen some cops toward the midwest and even on highways that really appreciate our police.

Like i said, grow some balls and do there job. cops will always keep their parking because of official police business. one of those business' is keeping your pathetic, ungrateful behind safe. Oh and for your info.. the city isnt moving on police parking they are moving on other city agencies who dont need the parking but get it anyway. shows how well you are informed. Id pay to see the day a cop looks at you and laughs when you need help or you call 911.
