  • hey i got this guitar and my elipse pickup thing is kind of coming off have you had that problem at all?

  • @aragon667 Yes - the Ellipse system started to crackle and, having got fed up with it, I replaced it with a Baggs iBeam. :-)

  • need an opinion what do you ppl think is better this martin or a taylor 114ce try not to be biased in your opinion.

  • When I play a Martin, I find that each one is slightly different from another, which means that you have to try several before making a choice. They're still hand-made (mainly) in Nazereth. Taylor have brought the art of machine-made guitars to a fine pitch and are, overall (IMHO) more consistent. I've tried many Taylors and really only like the high-end models. HOWEVER - make, price and looks mean nothing - choose what suits YOU, in the end. :-)

  • I am saving up for a martin and will have just enough money to buy this one by the end of the summer, and I was just wondering, can this guitar sustain well unplugged? And is it alright for chords and not just fingerpicking? I was wondering because I played it at a guitar center out of LA, and it sounded a tad quiet, but that's because I didn't have a pick

  • I think every guitar is slightly different, and will always play slightly differently depending on the guitarist themselves. I play mine regularly in acoustic clubs and, although my fingernails are not as hard as they used to be, it's still clear - and people listen! With a pick, it's got a nice, loud ringing tone. :-)

  • @HenfieldWill ya i took mine in today to have them fix it i will probly end up getting rid of it soon. good guitar still though love the sound. just really fragile.

  • thanks man good input

  • I just checked out the Gibson, Martin and Taylor acoustics at Guitar Center, Trutone Music and Best Buy in Los Angeles. This Martin XC1T is my favorite guitar in the $800 range. It plays great and sounds a little more full than the Taylor 214ce which enhances the mids and highs and sells for around $900. The Taylors sound a bit more full as you trade up. HOWEVER, nothing matches the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe at $2,000. This is a fantastic, loud, full-sounding guitar that cannot be beat.

  • Wow, very good. If I had only a spoonful of your talent, I'd be content.
