An advanced dog trick that is sure to impress! The more that we teach a dog, the better that dog becomes at learning. This is a fun trick that any dog can learn to perform. However, it is very challenging so remember to be extremely patient, and always end a training session while your dog is ahead. It may take up to several weeks to master this one, but with these tips and hints - you'll be well on your way.

If you want to see more tutorials like this one, let me know in the comments. If you have already made a suggestion - I have made a note of it and will get around to making it eventually. Thank you for being patient and supportive!

  • Your great, your video's are realy helpfull, but I got a question, wouldn't my dog confuse limp with just paw? when do I teach him the limp command instead of the paw that is needed for the training?

    Thanks!

  • @TheCarelMaes Thank you! Great question - I would introduce the new cue, 'Limp' once you are able to get the dog to do the supported limp. At this point they should be able to understand the difference between the two words.

  • Great video!

It's so much fun to teach this to your dog. It took Della about a month to get the idea of limping, but with patience, she's now offering limps without any kind of support from me.

    Great tutorial! 5* and fav!

  • Nice! It's so rewarding when they pull through like that.

  • Thanks for the video! VERY surprisingly, my dog, Jackson took about 1 day to learn this trick! I was amazed.

  • Oh wow! Great job!

  • Thank you so much for your videos. I looked everywhere for a great source of positive reinforcement dog training advice, and must say that your videos are BY FAR the best I have seen. You have saved me hundreds of dollars in training, and have definately increased the safety of my soon to be born child. I truly appreciate and respect what you are doing and I wish you all the best.

  • my dog runs away when she is not on the leash.. how do i keep her from running away off leash and when my house door is open?

  • @MrJoe725 thumbs up!!! but i think that's because she already mastered the right limp (and prefers the right limp) before the video so he was teaching her the left limp since she already knew the right limp. but since she hasn't mastered the left limp yet he just had her do the right limp at the end.... DOES THAT MAKE sEnSe??

  • my dog gives mouth instead of paw!!!!!!!!!!!!!
