how come when I try to do the riff, the second part after the open string, it just cuts out any sound after I put my fingers to the fretboard? it's really frustrating. is it because I'm using my fingers instead of a pick? thanks in advance.

Make sure you "flick" the finger on and off the fretboard to creat the coninuation of the sound. Hope this helps.

@WildAlaskanBlossom Porbably because your fret fingers are touching the adjacent strings.

You are a great teacher. I was about to say I can't believe how few views this has had then realised it had only just been posted. Would be great if you could post clips for the rest of the song. I'm a beginner but I find the plucking songs mutch easier strangley enough as they flow more. The first song I learnt to play was fade out by radiohead.
