Here is gameplay footage recorded with my Hauppauge PVR. The quality is much better then my old HAVA Wireless HD. See for yourself! Be sure to watch in 720p mode. Compare this to my other video, "Hava / Sony Vegas 8.0 Quality Test".

The Hauppauge PVR is great. You plug your game console into it and then you take a 2nd set of video/audio cables and plug the Hauppauge box into your TV. A USB cable (provided) goes to your computer's USB. My HAVA required the use of video and audio splitters, PLUS hooking it up to the router (which means a router was required). In short, it worked but it was a mess, and the files it output were only 480p. You can output video to your PC in .M2TS, .TS, and .MP4. You can also use either AC3 or AAC for the sound.

I had to upgrade from Sony Vegas 8.0b to 9.0e in order to import the videos outputted by Hauppauge properly. Once I upgraded I had no problems. My preferred video type to work with was MP4, but Vegas refused to import it because I don't have quicktime installed. The video here was made from .TS output and AC3 audio.

To anyone looking for a video recording solution (specifically for video games), get the Hauppauge! Please share your comments below!

  • @NinjaPenguinx7 im unsure. the back has 2 sets of component ports. one set is for input (from console) the other is for output (to TV's input). there is one s-video port on the front and one set of composite cables on the front as well. :(

  • @theydidntnameme hey i was interested in getting one of these but i wanted to know if you knew do you know if these work on sd tv's? thanks! :)

  • damn king a beast on this one i never played this one lol.

  • @oD4RKASSASSINo hauppauge recorded as a 11.5 mB/s .TS video.

in sony vegas 9, my project profile was one of the presets, "HDV 720-30p (1280x720, 29.970 fps)".

when i rendered it i rendered it as "windows media video v11 (*.wmv)" using the preset template "6 Mbps HD 720-30p Video"

  • Hey man! What codec did you use for this video WMV etc?

And what bitrate did you use for this video, it looks pretty damn sweet!

  • @Yoshimitsu987 i know! thanks for watching!
