Damage videos of the large 3" bore cannon that we built. It was made to look like a howitzer and even has a recoil system. This thing is scary powerful and LOUD too. The high speed video is shot with a Casio Exilim EX-FC100. The song is "Hold On" by "YES"
(ADDITION) ME 1-05H Cerberus Energy Calculations
I ran over some of the old data of our howitzer and did some number crunching. The fastest round was 833ft/s and 287g. That little soup can had 6,829 Ft-lbs of energy. Now this sounds impressive but lets compare some with some common firearm rounds.

Round How strong ME1-05H
.45 ACP @ 518 Ft-lbs (13.1x stronger)
.45 Long Colt @ 523 Ft-lbs (13x stronger)
5.56 NATO @ 1,325 (5.1x stronger)
.50 AE (Desert Eagle) @1,600 Ft-lbs (4.2x stronger)
7.62 NATO @ 2,601 Ft-lbs (2.6x stronger)
.358 Winchester @ 2,914 Ft-lbs (2.3x stronger)

A round that can beat it is the
.50 BMG @ 13,350 Ft-lbs (1.9x weaker)

That's not too shabby considering that this is a backyard beast. If we can launch a 350g projectile @ 1,100 ft/s we can top the .50 BMG in kinetic energy.

  • Can you hunt with it?

  • @Fyghaxnav I've seriously thought about it man.

  • Were you using soda cans as projectiles exclusively in this video?

  • @SuhkaSlayer Soup cans were the main projectile. We found that the soda cans have a tendency to burst INSIDE the barrel due to the force of the combustion. The thicker steel of the soup cans (with a little plaster of paris for weight) and some weather stripping to seal against the barrel yields better performance (and cheap too).

  • I guess this is a combustion from the sound but it sure has the power of a piston valved pneumatic.

  • @Spudfarm1 It is indeed a combustion cannon. We haven't messed with larger piston valved cannons........ yet.
