SMMBL 4803 Classic

Santa Monica Municipal Bus Lines aka "Big Blue Bus" 1995 Novabus classic 4803 heads out of Union Station for another trip on the 10 line.

The 1995 classics were the last sensible buses Santa Monica bought under the legendary director Jack Hutchinson. Shortly after his retirement a new crew of outsiders were given management positions thus beginning the infamous "Values and Behavior" era that ruined the coolness of the agency. The new regime left Big Blue to move on to better things in 2002 but the damage was done and that great bus line remained a shell of what it once was.

At this time the 4800's are the last Classics on the roster and remind us of a time when the bus line was fun and cool to ride a fleet of Canadian built New Looks and Classics.
