  • it's a great thing what you do here with these videos, they save a lot of people a lot of money. i really thank you for that and i would definitely buy parts from 1aauto. one more thing could post a video about how to change a tranny shift solenoid on a 1999 ford f-150. thank you!

  • @carlosderek Thank you, we'll keep it in mind if we have another one here in the shop.

  • I think it should be noted that this process only applies to 1997 Sunfires and Cavaliers with 4 speed automatic tranmissions. The models with 3 speed automatics have a much larger transmission and it isn't possible to change the coils from under the car due to the lack of open space.

  • @rsh300 Good Point, the car I am working on is a 5 speed stick so procedure may be different for other tranny's

  • it's not eze but can be done with a three speed auto trans. Remove the plastic clip holding the two steel lines so you don't cut your arm. It is really tight spot.

  • i had to change my mod on cav..best to do it like this ..i replaced both coils with a new mod no fun to get at,, but i have a 4 post lift ..no fun on the ground

  • I have changed the ingnition coils on a 1997 Cavalier with a 3 speed automatic transmission from underneath the car. The trick was to raise the car as high as safely possible. You can reach the ignition coils from right side of the motor colse to the oil filter. Further back there is a cross member with a hole over the top of te trans you can see what you are doing. It took my son and I 4.5 hours to change two coils. In 98 the coils were moved to the driver side of the cylindar head.

  • @ericv1984 This video should show you how to remove it from your car.

  • @rsh300 Thanks man. I have a 3 speed auto. Oh well.

  • @nbodymike If your car is an automatic it may be more difficult/impossible to get to them from the bottom.

  • @1aauto The reason I asked is because I have a 97 Cavalier 2.2L and it seems like the coils are kind of hidden on my car. So you didn't move anything out of the way or take anything off?
