You're right ! but I still noticed that some languages which are closed to the ones you know are so easy to learn, for example italian was closed to french so I needed 4 month to learn how to speak it at a descent level.

But I think that learning thai is much more interesting ! the script is different, the culture also and the people are so friendly !

What ressources did you use to study thai or is it your mothertong?

I never really studied Thai. I just kinda picked it up by being here. I had to make an effort to learn to read at one point and to try and always be improving. I ended up creating a lot of my own resources over time. Meanwhile, I was taking classes in Chinese, Korean and Japanese for years and a few others briefly. How would you rate the difficulty of Thai compared to japanese, chinese, vietnamese, cambodian?

I try not to think about language in terms of difficulty. Anybody can learn any language. I'm sure that you already know this. Most languages have at least one significant "hill" that you need to climb over in the process, but that shouldn't stop or distract us from climbing it.
