  • THIS IS MY JAMM!, cuz my name is Danny!

  • @danny9192 OK Danny, Thanks for your positive reply..This is your Jam!

  • It's "PIPES" not "pikes." The pipes refer to bagpipes playing at Danny's funeral. Danny is dead, this is a funeral song!

  • @RETRO714 ..Well then, let's wake Danny up.

  • I concur with Stu Pullen. It is A Southern Style with big city jazz modern harmonies too. Bass lead, then Gene taking over with his natural know how. I can always hear lethargic slow versions of this, after two I'd had enough, they start sounding the same. But put a version like this in the fold and the audience wakes up..

  • Why are the Pikes calling? - sad, the Larks had no idea what they were saying. It's the PIPES are calling. Pipes are what they marched to battle with and the song is about the Pipes calling to the men and marching the young Danny into battle. a pike is just a long sharp stick they don't say anything.

  • @maamold ..Hi..Pikes could be a mountain top..But hey..I love all the versions of Londonderry Air and this one swings

  • "The pikes are callin'." Does he mean the fish, the freeway, or the spear? The first rule of singing: know and understand the words. Still, it is fun and beats rap all to hell, which is what these gents would probably be singing if they were born 50 years later. Thanks for posting it.

  • Well..this is different............

  • HI, YET ANOTHER FINE PERFORMANCE BY THIS "MONSTER GROUP" HERE! THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES AND THE FUN, TOM D. BRICK,NJ. {AT THE SHORE}.

  • Well . . . here I am back again. Just had to here their version again.

  • Amazing!

  • @wtesoro lol nice :D

  • @RETRO714

YES, but they didn't know i'll gues.

  • When I heard this version I was disgusted with it.I shook my head and thought how they had butchered a beautiful melancholy song. The slow meaningful versions either acapella or accompanied are what I really like. Yet I keep coming back and find I like their version. As for the use of Pikes instead of Pipes; The road (pike) to war calls Danny, the future, what's beyond the next bend in the road, the unknown. We've all experienced it,it calls to us to wherever it's from and wherever it leads . . we go

  • This is sooo wrong, even for 1954!
