Near the Cross, by Fanny Crosby and William Doane
Words Verse 1
Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream
Flows from Calvarys mountain.
Chorus
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.
Words Verse 2
Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.
Chorus
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.
Words Verse 3
Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows oer me.
Chorus
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.
Words Verse 4
Near the cross Ill watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.
Chorus
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.
Rejoice the Lord is King by Charles Wesley and John Darwall
Words Verse 1
Rejoice, the Lord is King! Your Lord and King adore;
Mortals give thanks and sing, and triumph evermore;
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
Both songs are in the public domain.

There is another tune to Rejoice, the Lord Is King! It is LAUS REGIS, composed by William E. Fischer (1849-1936).

@mkl62 Thank you for watching and commenting. I love some of the old hymns. I also appreciate the contemporary choruses, but the hymns are more special to me.
