  • It did not take me 4 years to find the song, only 2days.

    here's the thing:

1 i was in a karaoke bar, about 4/5 weeks ago. i videotaped 40 seconds of the song sang by some girl

2 i dont understand any Chinese so no way to search for lyrics

    3 i didn't know the artist

4 midomi.com did not recognize the song when i played it or hummed it.

i found it through some very precise google searches

  • @koakie1 good work koakie1 :) now u can relax and enjoy !

  • Finally,I've found this song for 4 years

  • I'm happy to have re-united you both :)

  • It is sad when the most beautiful song in the world is in a language you do not understand.

  • @lonesomeinpeg You should give studying Mandarin a try. A lot of Westerners are afraid of it because it's a tonal language, and because of the characters, both of which are very foreign to English speakers. But once you get into it, you'll find that there's no verb conjugation, in fact no inflection at all, and much if the language is laid out in a very organized way. (For example "January" is written as "one-month" etc.)

So give it a try. You might surprise yourself. :)

  • Ting Hai - 'Listen to the Sea' (translation by yours truly. I felt obliged to do so since it's a true mandarin pop classic).

    Verse 1:

Write me a letter, telling me what the colour of the sea was today

To describe how it feels like, with the sea accompanying you every night.

'Grey' would mean you'd rather not say; 'blue' would mean you're sad

But you're adrift and your turbulent heart - where will they anchor?

  • Verse 2:

Write me a letter, telling me what you wish to dream of tonight

Whether or not the 'me' in your dreams and in reality makes no difference to your choice.

I clutch on to my heart, unable to shut my eyes the entire night

Why is that you obviously have feelings for me and yet not moving closer?

  • Chorus:

Listen to the sound of the crying sea

Lamenting those who have had their hearts broken but fail to sober up

I can’t be one of them – at least I’m very calm

But the tears, even my tears don’t buy that.

    Listen to the sound of the crying sea;

This sea is far too emotional, it cries in sorrow till daybreak.

Write me a letter as a final promise to me

Telling me how you really felt when you left me.

  • This song is everlasting, never boring even after hearing it for the 100th time

  • its a song about the sea...na pinabayaan ng mga tao...i really like that song so much..

  • love it..............
