  • I'd have loved this trip, even at £30

  • At £30 a ticket it was never going to fill a train for just one round trip. A typical diesel gala ticket is just £15 for 100 miles haulage. I am all for diesels on the Bluebell, if it attracts another generation of peple to the line, and with them, their money, that can only be a good thing.

  • Nice one Martin, from the other Martin, I videoed this from the old station platform on the left, you can just see me,

  • I think it is a really good thing for the line. Diesels have long been demonised as something bad.. they were only bad when British Rail had them because of the indecent haste with which they ousted steam, They deserve a place in the history of the line and I wouild like to see more of them running on the bluebell,Even better, how about getting a stretch of line electrified for that 4-VEP they have just acquired ! A DEMU (Thumper) would really complete the picture for this line historically too.

  • I hope that this is the one and only diesel hauled Bluebell service too. I would say however that despite being advertised for weeks (months?) they still had tickets available and did'nt even fill three coaches. And that was just for a single trip.

  • I suppose it is the end of th all steam disposition. Although i supose one could see it as a step forewars rather than a sad moment.

  • Why is it sad moment?!

  • Good footage of a sad moment in the railway's history. Still, if it had to be a diesel then i'm glad it was a 73.
