This is a very important part in the history of Buganda and Uganda. Thanks for bringing us this. Ssekabaka Muteesa II Luwangula was a courageous man. if this is part of the history taught in Uganda schools, maybe we would not have all this confusion of those who have distorted our history and try to suppress it for their selfish gains.

where can i get this footage

Great piece of history for Buganda and Uganda. Can you put more, please. Also, let us know of other sources where we can get and keep more recordings of these monumental events of our country

This goes to show you how valuable your background is and for one to claim to be ugandan, you must prove to have ethnicity. Buganda was organised and could handle its own affairs, so all those trying to dissolve it should watch more of these clips and know it aint goin no where. Wonderful production thou, seeing all those dignitories and loyal strong men of the past.

I feel very proud to be an African and with a pedigree. Those who ignorantly say that we have no culture should see this and be wise. I hope this tradition is kept intact by the Buganda as the Edos have kept theirs in Nigeria.
I appreciate you sharing this video with us. It is an important part of Buganda's history. Now, would it not be also awesome to see the crowning of a Kabaka as it was done before the British came?

@RedheadedSauerkraut Don't think we'll ever see that but I wonder if there is any written description of crownings before the British.

Amazing!! thank u very much fraser. where can i buy the cd to the soundtracks of this video??

The CD can be bought from SWP-records. The CD is called Royal Court Music from Uganda 1950 & 1952 which was recorded by Hugh Tracey. There's a good chance that some of the musicians in the film are the same people that were recorded by Hugh Tracey in 1950 and 1952.

There's about an hour of the coronation, mostly in colour. There's also some other black and white films which I havn't had telecined yet which show various bits of wildlife, The Murchison Falls and lots of tea parties.
