At Frederick Memorial Healthcare System, we know it's stressful to visit the operating room. This 15-minute video takes you through the entire process with the goal of easing some of your pre-operative anxiety. We start with the Pre-Admission Screening phone call you'll receive a few days before your procedure, take you to Registration, the Surgical Information Desk, the Pre-Op area, into the Operating Room and out to Recovery. We'll also introduce you to some of our Volunteers who will keep your family and/or friends informed of your progress while you're with us in the OR.
We hope this video will answer some of your questions. If you have further questions or concerns, please call us at 240-566-3918.
Part 2: I also had outpatient surgery when I was 27 (a surgery to break my hymen). Since then, I've gone with my mom when she's had gastric bypass in 2008, and again last year when she had a belt lipectomy and brachioplasty.

Some comments here. I know they said having a family member in surgery is stressful, but what if you're the one who's used to having surgery, and you end up accompanying another person having surgery.
I was born with hydrocephalus, and have had three shunt surgeries over the past 34 years: one when I was a week old, one when I was four, and one when I was twelve. Those surgeries required a few days in the hospital.
