I thought it was an 880 or a 088. That's the biggest saw Stihl makes right?

On the scale of the majestic redwood, how large is this tree? I don't understand why you get negative feedback on doing your job. I'm sure with you working with these trees on a regular basis, you have more knowledge and passion for these trees than the people giving you hell! For without these beauties, you are unemployed. I guess they are just misinformed. More dollars go toward the conservation of species from hunters, fisherman, and loggers than your typical granola head!

Nice video! I couldn't imagine dropping such a large tree! How long does it take to master the skill in working with such large trees? I know how hard of work it is even with modern saws, couldn't imagine doing it in the old days. Loggers, like hunters and fisherman, have a deep respect for the species that they harvest and do more for conserving the species than most people! For without the species, the passion in the forementioned people is non existant!! Thanks for sharing brother!

Job well done safely. Very nice saw too.

@nap130mule904 Mother Nature has wiped out more Redwoods than man could ever hope to.

Well documented, well executed. thanks for sharing. As someone who loves redwoods and spends as much time around them as I can, I appreciate the documentation of this activity.................and to all the bleeding hearts, go talk trash to someone who wants to hear it.

nice saw work bud. i was expecting it to be hollow with all that water coming from it, supose on a tree that size that crack would hold a gallon or three
tree huggers = educated know nothings

It is so refreshing to see how professional this tree was harvested. It is a skill to be able to direct such a massive tree in a desired direction safely. I am sorry that ignorant people insist on blaming loggers for so much of the worlds problems. Some day they will realize steps are being taken to compensate for harvesting. Old growth is becoming more rare but they are emotional & confused by thinking old growth is more pure than new growth. New growth can replace old growth oxygen production.

@nap130mule904 - I hate to see old trees die but I also hate to see old people die. The fact is that when enough new trees are planted it takes the place of old trees. You may not realize it but a lot of your desire to save old growth trees is just an emotional thing. Try to get over your tree hugging ways long enough to understand that there is a great effort being made to replenish the benefits that trees provide. Humans can not live without trees & companies know that. They know conservation.

I know you are making a living, but it's sad to see an old tree like that get cut. I hate people who own redwood now. I just hate them

you largers are the dummest people by not learning from our past. The old growth was amost wipped out in the early 20th centry by greed. the key to modern logging is enginnered forest and replaning areas with ratios of 10 trees to one cut down to keep our forest alive. Get lumber smartly by fast growing trees and recycling paper for paper not destroying a tree for useless pulp. Thats all I got to say. Loggers don't look outside the box

@nap130mule904 I laugh every time I read this comment. Thank you for posting such a narrow minded, ignorant statement.
