The American Civil Liberties Union of Washington has launched a multimedia public-education campaign on the country's marijuana laws and their impact on taxpayers, communities and those arrested.

As part of this effort, travel guru Rick Steves hosts this infomercial-style panel discussion produced by the Washington ACLU.

Go read the research for yourself; every major reputable scientific study ever conducted on marijuana has concluded that is much less harmful than alcohol or even tobacco.

If you want to talk about "common sense," then "common sense" would be to check out the facts before you pretend -- in public! -- that you know what you are talking about, when you most obviously don't.

Every doctor and scientist in the video is a REAL doctor and scientist, you contemptible idiot.

They aren't "acting everything out," genius. They were interviewed for the video. I know everyone involved; don't pretend you know things when you obviously don't. It makes you look petty, ignorant, and above all, obnoxiously stupid.

@alapoet first of all if you don't base all your research on this false video and do a little research of yourself you will see that marijuana affects the reproductive system, affects the heart, lungs, and yea and even has a higher chance of causing cancer than cigarettes. All I'm saying is don't base this video as facts, even if you think I'm wrong do a little research for yourself and find out.

marijuana has not been shown to have any bad effects on reproduction, heart, lungs (in fact it helps PREVENT lung cancer, and protects the lungs from tobacco).

the video is based on facts. your statements are based on stupidity.

The public is still ignorant about marijuana. Lots of people still think it's dangerous, causes cancer(though not conclusively proven), think it's addictive, etc. If they took the time to compare it to alcohol and cigarettes in regards to health risks, toxicity, strength of addiction, intoxicating effects, they would soon change their mind. I'm not for prohibition of alcohol/cigarettes, so I'm DEFINITELY not in support of cannabis prohibition.

Marijuana (and consumers) are the primary elements of a made up boogy man designed to distract from the ACTUAL threat...hemp.

A revitalized hemp industry will make it immediately obvious that we have been lied to and criminalized for no other reason than to further enrich the robber barons of the post industrial age. That age has passed and the current generation of miscreants is left holding the bag. They're losing this battle and they don't like it.
